What Questions Are Employees Asking?
Is this in any way related to trying to have County Salaries match Corporate Salaries?
The focus of this project is not limited to the public sector. We want to ensure our compensation structure is competitive across relevant labor markets — including relevant public and private sectors — to attract and retain the best talent. By comparing County salaries with relevant public and private sector benchmarks, we aim to align compensation with the responsibilities and requirements of each role.
Is there a deadline to participate in this project?
Yes, the PDQ is due to supervisors/managers by January 6. Supervisors will have until February 7 to complete their portion.
We have an employee who is out on leave and unable to complete the PDQ. Is there a protocol for that?
If an employee is on leave, the supervisor can fill out the PDQ on behalf of the employee.
Once I finish my PDQ tomorrow and then my manager looks at it, where do I send it? Was there a shared folder I received? Then do I slide them into that?
Once you’ve completed your PDQ and your supervisor has reviewed and finalized it, the completed document should go to the HR Liaison in your department. The liaison's role will be to collect all finalized PDQs and submit them to the designated folder provided by Gallagher. The final documents are due by February 7.
Do we do PDQs for open positions?
Yes.
I would like to clarify whether this exercise is mandatory. Additionally, could you please share the expected outcome of this project? It seems that many of us are unclear about its purpose.
Participation in the Exercise:
We are encouraging 100% participation. Your input is vital to the success of this project, as it ensures that the unique roles and contributions of your department are captured and considered.
Expected Outcome:
The project aims to create a transparent and equitable framework for job classification and pay across the County. By standardizing job descriptions and addressing pay equity, we can identify and address any disparities and ensure that all employees are fairly recognized and compensated for their work.
Implications of Not Participating:
Those who do not participate risk being left out of the data-gathering process, which means their roles, responsibilities, and contributions may not be fully accounted for in the final analysis.
I have a question regarding the PDQ. According to the PowerPoint, it states that supervisors are not supposed to edit the document, am I correct?
Correct, your supervisor should not “change” your document. They are supposed to review and add comments if needed.
